he partners and staff of Potter & Company are committed to the profession and the communities they serve as shown by the involvement and leadership positions held. Since the establishment of our firm, Potter & Company has been a leader in the accounting field, receiving accolades from peers and industry associations nationwide.
  • Two partners of Potter & Company have served as President of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants within the last five years.

  • These partners also serve a four year term as members on the governing council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants as a result of their leadership role as president of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

  • Our managing partner, M. W. Glover, currently serves on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Executive Committee for the Governmental Audit Quality Center. The profession established the Governmental Audit Quality Center to help members achieve high standards in performing quality governmental audits, including single audits for not-for-profit organizations.

  • Our managing partner also chaired the Special Governmental and Not-for-Profit Audit Quality Committee for the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. The committee was formed to address audit quality for governmental and not-for-profit organizations. The committee focused on steps that could be taken to enhance the understanding of the recipient and increase adherence to professional standards by the issuer. Representatives of various governmental agencies participated on the committee including the Office of the State Auditor and the Office of the State Controller. Only four nongovernmental participants served on the committee, two of which were from Potter & Company.

  • Donna S. Taylor serves as chairman of the Long-Range Planning Committee for the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants and has received the Outstanding Discussion Leader award from the NCACPA for six years.

  • Four of our partners, Bucky, Jan, Bob, and Donna, are actively involved in the peer review process for the profession and have served or are currently serving on the Peer Review Committee for the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Performing peer reviews of other CPA firms and serving on the peer review executive committee demonstrate our firm’s commitment to high standards of quality in the audits we perform.

  • John W. Kapelar serves on the NCACPA Young CPA Cabinet, a group of young CPA’s who will become the leadership of the profession in future years.

  • Jan M. Glover serves on the advisory board for the accounting department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and stays involved with the curriculum used to teach current accounting students to prepare them for the profession.

  • Sam Leder serves on the Government and Not-for-Profit Committee for CPAmerica International.
